Grow! 2012

If you are reading this and you own a business, then you can consider yourself successful. The past 3 years have been tough on all of us small business owners. To make it to this point and still be “alive and well” is good. Pat yourself on the back! You are to be commended for surviving! But “good” isn’t “good” enough for most. I know it’s not for me. So if you’re looking to be GREAT, read on!

Things have certainly changed.

Prior to the “Great Recession,” most of us had no trouble finding work. We had trouble finding members to add to our team, but not clients. Now many small business owners are having trouble finding both! Seems strange but it’s true.

A few short years ago we bought things to help us run our businesses better without thinking about it. Today, no way. No purchases are made without careful consideration and, in many ways, this is good. Part of the entrepreneurs’ concern is we don’t have a sense of confidence about the future and we aren’t sure business is going to improve. We aren’t making investments; we’re scared. Furthermore, spur-of-the-moment decisions are not good for business; we need to plan. All planning is good. And, folks, I truly believe it’s time to plan. It’s time to plan for 2012 and beyond. It’s time to think about what’s possible for you, your business and your family. (They are one in the same if you ask this long-time entrepreneur.) And there is no better place for the owner of a small business to get energized, motivated, inspired, overhauled and poised for success like my annual conference GROW!

I want you to come see me.

I want to help you.

I want to show you what’s possible for 2012.

I want you to learn from some incredibly talented people and find all sorts of ways to make more money!

Get to Dayton, Ohio, on February 9-11, with me and Joe Calloway and hundreds of other success-minded entrepreneurs. We have totally put everything we’ve got into this event and I can promise you, if you attend, you will be very glad you did, and you will be just another one of the thousands of small business owners we have helped.

I know you are very busy. Busy with all kinds of challenges, but please, PLEASE, take 15 minutes right now and read what I have to offer you.

My buddy Mike owns a small business in Dayton. He does really well. He says I am the most confident person he knows. He says he can’t believe what I promise in my offer for my events. He’s been to them; I let him come for free. (He’s a REALLY good friend.) He was blown away last year at what we did. He says, “You did more than what you promised, Marty; there’s not a small business owner in America that wouldn’t benefit from what you taught.” Thanks, Mike. Listen, what others say about you, folks, is infinitely more impressive and convincing than what I could say about myself. I am confident, confident that if you share approximately 3 days with me and my talented teachers, you will move your business forward. Speaking of talented teachers, this is who you’ll spend your 3 days with:

Yours truly Marty Grunder. Maybe you don’t know who I am. With the web, you may have just stumbled upon my offer, so let me tell you who I am.

Lawn & Landscape Magazine

Marty Grunder…

Business Builder! That’s what people call me. I discovered my entrepreneurial spirit as a young man with a lawn mower and grew that passion into a multi-million-dollar company. Along that journey, my success story was amplified by The New York Times and acknowledged with numerous honors, including three “Entrepreneur of the Year” awards by various institutions.

I continue to serve as CEO of Grunder Landscaping Co. in Dayton, Ohio (my personal business laboratory), employing and leading more than 40 individuals, but my true passion lies in working with other CEOs, organizational leaders, and business owners to help them drive results.

Unlike some speakers who speak from third party experience, I feel I truly understand the confluence of Marketing, Motivation and Management. I am the “go-to” expert for helping hundreds of companies across North America inspire their leadership teams. I am a renowned speaker, business consultant, and author. My book, The Nine Simple Steps to Entrepreneurial Success, was named Business Book of the Year at the 2003 Independent Publisher Awards.

How can I help you? If you want to develop strong leaders, clarify strategic visions, and leverage resources to grow sales and market presence, you’ll benefit from my experience as a successful business owner and talented communicator.

I live in Dayton, Ohio, with my wife Lisa, three daughters Emily, Kathleen and Lillian, and son Grant and am active as a volunteer in my community.

Yeah, I’m good; in fact, I’d say if you’re a landscaper or you provide services to homeowners, businesses, or the like, there are few that can match my ability to help move your endeavor forward. In the last year, many of my clients have kicked butt and have been recognized in publications from California to Maine. Here are just 4 of the success stories:

Matt Esch Jarod Hynson Benton & Ryan Foret Lee Buffington
Matt Esch,
from Pigeon,
Michigan
Jarod Hynson,
from Denver,
Pennsylvania
Benton & Ryan Foret,
of Thibodaux,
Louisiana
Lee Buffington,
from Fort Payne,
Alabama

Each of these men will be at GROW! 2012 with their teams. I think that says a lot about what I have to offer.

John Bradley

“I had a VERY worthwhile experience this year at your 2011 GROW event. Not only was I exposed to a TON of great information but I was also able to meet lots of new people who are just as willing to learn as they are to help.

I picked up so many things that will not only help me with my professional life but in my everyday personal life as well. I learned more from your three-day conference than I did in any of the business courses I took while in college. I think that says a lot about what you and your team have to offer.”

Kyle VanSice, Environmental Enhancements, Inc.
Sterling, VA

Joe Calloway…

Joe is a best-selling author who captivates audiences with his expertise, charisma and down-to-earth style. I have learned an enormous amount from Joe. Joe and I love working together, and if you come to GROW! 2012 and see what Joe and I do together, you’ll see why I love the guy. He is a brilliant man who normally speaks to large audiences under high-powered lights on a fancy stage. He’s a big-time performer, who actually prefers small, intimate settings like GROW! I love presenting with Joe, but at GROW! I LOVE to sit in the back of the room and watch him do his thing. I’ve read all his books, filled up my laptop with notes on his teachings and spent hours with him in Nashville at his office and at my office in Dayton learning how to improve. He is an expert at audience participation and if you don’t like me, then just come to see Joe, okay? (Ain’t love grand!)

joe calloway's books

Here’s more about Joe:

Joe Calloway is a performance expert who helps companies align people, culture, and strategy to drive results.

He is the author of four ground-breaking business books including the best-selling Becoming A Category of One, which received rave reviews from The New York Times, Retailing Today, Publishers Weekly and many others.

Joe is a guest lecturer at the Scarlett Leadership Institute, and has served on the faculty of the Center for Professional Development at Belmont University.

Although Joe has been inducted into the Speakers Hall of Fame, he doesn’t do traditional “speeches.” Instead, Joe actively engages people in highly interactive keynotes and workshops that challenge assumptions and create new ways of thinking. Just hearing Joe Calloway alone makes GROW! 2012 worth attending.

Trey Giraldi

“As cliché as this will sound, I came to Dayton scared to death about this year. I left Dayton full of confidence and with a set direction of where to go.

Thank you so much for everything and I can’t wait to come back.”

Trey Giraldi, Swan Creek Landscaping,
Perryville, MD

Matt Caruso…

A Marty Grunder! event would not be complete without my long-time colleague Matt Caruso. Matt is the best student I have ever had. He is an award-winning entrepreneur, a gifted small business coach, and an even better father and husband. He’ll be at GROW! the whole time to help you get the most from your experience. He’s also going to be presenting a dynamite session on improving your organization’s hiring, training and retaining efforts. Listen, Matt is one of those guys that just flat out “gets it.” I have so much respect for him and so do his clients at Marty Grunder! Inc. Here’s what two of them had to say about Matt:

“Matt Caruso is a dynamic and enthusiastic speaker who is easy to learn from. He is a wealth of information and he breaks it down so everyone gets it. He has helped me take my business to the next level. Listen to him speak; you’ll be glad you did.”

Dan Bailey, Bailey’s Lawn and Landscape,
Middletown, DE

“The support, direction, and knowledge Matt Caruso has offered my company, with planning and development, has been by far the best resource we have for building a successful, profitable, landscaping firm. He is a very positive speaker and mentor that empowers and propels you towards success in your business and personal life!”

Rob Garpiel II, Garpiel landscaping L.L.C.,
Saginaw, MI

If you do hardscaping, then Matt is the dude you want to sit next to. Here’s his dream: (www.decrascape.com).

A former member of the 82nd airborne, a man that served his country with honor, Matt knows that success in business and life is rooted in hard work. The passion he has for planning, systems, and building a business makes Matt someone you must come meet.

Now if what was just said about Matt doesn’t make you want to attend GROW!, I don’t want you to come. Seriously, I’m looking for winners, not losers. I’m looking to have a room full of “can-do” people. There’s power in being around positive people. Come to GROW! Sign up now.

Okay, so I’m going to be there presenting my latest and greatest stuff. I’m going to be in the hallway, the VIPs will get to go to my house and spend more time with me and we’ll connect, for sure. That alone ought to entice you to attend GROW! 2012. If it’s not, then knowing you get to meet and spend time with Joe Calloway ought to push you to sign up. In no other event will you get to meet a teacher like Joe. Joe’s from Nashville, Tennessee, a place where everyone is your friend and they call you “Honey” and “Sugar.” Joe’s a Honey and Sugar kind of guy. The nicest guy you’ll ever meet who just wants to help. He knows if he helps people improve their businesses and concentrates on that, the money will come. I’m not going to share with you how well Joe does specifically; let’s just say he doesn’t have to work; he works because he loves to work. Sign up now.

Marty Grunder, Joe Calloway and Matt Caruso: What else could we possibly have to offer? There’s more! Read on.

This is big, folks. We have another teacher in addition to yours truly, Joe Calloway, Matt Caruso and, of course, the countless small business owners who will fill the Dayton Marriott. That speaker is…..drum roll, please…..one of my favorites: Larry Winget!

Larry Winget…

Who’s Larry Winget? I’m glad you asked. Larry is the self-proclaimed “pit bull of personal development.” He’s the dude that is on Fox, NBC and numerous other network news programs.

He’s the guy who had his own TV show. He’s the guy who has written several New York Times best sellers. Here are the titles of Larry’s books: Your Kids Are Your Own Fault: A Guide For Raising Responsible, Productive Adults, It’s Called WORK For A Reason, You’re Broke Because You Want To Be, People Are Idiots And I Can Prove It and No Time for Tact: 365 Days of the Wit, Words, and Wisdom of Larry Winget.

But most importantly, he’s the guy that, when I called and told him about my event, said he’d love to make the long trip from his warm home in Phoenix, Arizona, to Dayton, Ohio, in FEBRUARY! to help entrepreneurs. He’s the guy who will dine with us at my house Friday night with the VIPs and I promise you this guy is going to win you over like he’s won me over. He’s funny, brilliant and an incredible teacher. His message has been shared all over the world and you’re going to get to see him, meet him and learn from him.

“Thank you for your vision to teach and dedication to quality. This was probably the best event I have attended. The Quality and Caliber of every speaker was fantastic. The environment you create allows us to see the person behind the speaker and I love that. Thanks for your passion.”

“Great group of people at GROW! All #1 in their field. Wealth of information that I do really thank you for. Thanks for VIP treatment. You really know how to host.”

People at GROW! 2011

Okay, let’s do a recap…

Four talented teachers and over 150 successful business owners converging on Dayton, Ohio, from February 9-11. What will the town do? I’ll tell you what we’ll do; we’ll take over the Dayton Marriott and we’ll share ideas, learn new ways to market, sell and lead your company to new heights. I’ve given you so many reasons to attend: I don’t know what else I can do. Please, just attend; it may sound like I’m desperate for you to attend. I’m not; I am positive you will improve if you attend. Here are the reasons you may be thinking you should not attend;

  1. You can’t afford it. Sheesh….if you can’t afford $550 to attend, you do have problems. Put your equipment on Craig’s list and send me your resume; maybe we have a spot for you; on second thought, don’t do that, we only hire positive, motivated people. Seriously, it’s time you quit worrying about pennies and look for the dollars! The dollars I can show you how to make! You spend money to make money.
  2. It might snow and I have to drive the snow plow. I hear this one a lot. Okay, stay at home, keep driving that snow plow. I assume that’s something you want to be doing the rest of your life? Doesn’t sound like much of a life to me. Look, it’s a lot easier to find a snow plow driver than it is to find someone to lead your company on to victory. Do you think Tom Brady puts air in the footballs? What about filling the water coolers? It’s time you realized you get paid to think from the neck up. Driving a snow plow once in a while is okay, but doing it all the time such that it sacrifices your personal development is pathetic.
  3. I have a long list of things I need to do; I know what I have to do; I just need to do it. Once I get those done, I’ll come. I hear this lame one all the time. Look, why aren’t you doing it then? Personal motivation is the answer. Come to Dayton and let me give you reasons to take action. Obviously, if you know what you have to do but still aren’t doing it, you have issues that I can help you with. It starts with motivation and I am a professional motivator.
  4. My wife is pregnant and she’s due during the event. Okay, that’s a good one. If you can’t come because of that, congratulations. In fact, if this is the reason, call us right now and we’ll send you a gift. I want to work with people who value family and staying home is what you ought to be doing. But if your wife’s not pregnant or you’re not pregnant (a lot of women attend GROW!), you need to attend. We’re talking about your future, folks. I have several spouses who call and write me and tell me thanks for what we have done for their family. I have several clients who will be at GROW! who have spouses who actually encourage them to attend! One told me recently and I quote, “Every time my husband spends time with you, he improves. I told him he needs to ‘hang out’ with you more.”

“I learned more about running my business in three days at GROW 2011 than I have learned in four years of business ownership and two years of business school. My head is spinning with the power of action. Attending GROW 2011 is going to have positive long lasting effects on my business. It is all about getting better.”

Michael Pecquet, StoneMakers of Cincinnati,
Cincinnati, OH

I want you to attend because I want to help you. Plain and simple, Joe Calloway, Larry Winget, Matt Caruso and I just want to help. It sounds hollow but we fill up our emotional bank accounts by helping people. If you do that right, the money comes. (Trust me, this works!)

Here are my Top 10 Reasons to Attend GROW! 2012:

  1. You need a plan for 2012; come to my event and you’ll leave with one that will greatly enhance your chances for success. ALL PLANNING IS GOOD!
  2. We have tons and tons of ideas that will help you sell work; you need that now more than ever. Sales cure everything; come to GROW! And learn how to sell more.
  3. You’ll learn the top 5 ways to market your company in this environment.
  4. You’ll learn how to attain, train, retain and entertain your team!
  5. You’ll learn from entrepreneurs who had the best year of their business careers last year.
  6. You need to get your batteries recharged, learn from others and leave motivated to have a great 2012. (This might be the most important lesson you’ll learn at GROW!)
  7. Sitting at home feeling sorry for yourself and not learning is basically a net worth reduction scheme! You have to learn how to get out of those ruts! (We’ll show you how.)
  8. Your competition most likely won’t be here, so what could that mean for you?
  9. Nowhere else in the Green Industry will you find the quality of speakers and teachers we offer. Nowhere!
  10. And finally, you need to do this for yourself, your family and your future. The only way to improve is to learn new ideas that help you GROW!

There’s not much more I can do. It’s time for you fish or cut bait. December 21st the price goes up; February will be here soon.

“Just wanted to say thank you for a great program. It is always great to learn from people you admire and I have tremendous admiration for your company. It was a pleasure to finally meet you and I regret that it took so long to do so. Have a great season and I wish you well. Blessings to you and your family.”

Kris McKee, McKee Country Club Lawn & Landscaping,

“I am sure you are going to get at least 100+ e-mails over the next few days from everyone thanking you…but I had to just let you know that this weekend was a ‘life changer’ for Lawn Plus.

What a great experience!

You have helped me in so many ways…and working with you and your team has really helped me to take Lawn Plus to the next level.

Thanks!”

“GROW 2011 was incredible! Thank you very much for helping to keep us ‘engaged.’ I have always used the term ‘motivated,’ but ‘engaged’ is much more powerful, I’m going to steal it from you. As leaders, you know our attitudes are contagious, so we are going to infect everyone at TTI with what we learned at GROW.”

Bryan Anderson, Turf Tamer, Inc.
Fort Payne, AL

“In 25 years of green industry involvement, I have never once come across a conference that delivers so much practical information. If you’re really serious about growing your company, I would beg, borrow, or steal the money needed and make this three-day commitment that will truly revolutionize the way you run your company.”

Jarod Hynson, Earth, Turf, & Wood Inc.,
Denver, PA

I’ve stated my case. The price you pay is a small investment compared to the information you will receive. If you still have questions, call my office and ask for me. I’m rarely in (traveling a lot this time of year) but I will call you back. My 15-year track record of holding this event is proof you need to be at GROW! 2012. Sign up now before we sell out!
